On a sunny San Diego afternoon, 21 HubSpot pros walked into our space — and walked out with ideas worth stealing.
The theme of our latest HUG event was simple: Steal This Workflow. We invited speakers from our community to demo real HubSpot workflows that are working right now — and encouraged everyone in the room to learn, question, and collaborate on how their automations can assist other businesses.
The result? A wildly interactive session packed with practical automation, solid strategy, and a whole lot of nerding out over smart, scalable systems.
5 Speakers. Endless Ideas. One Engaged Crowd.
This wasn’t a one-way presentation. It was a show and tell. We featured five community speakers who each broke down a workflow they’ve built (and battle-tested), complete with walkthroughs, caveats, and real-world application.
Here’s what we covered:
✋ Prevent Form Overwrites
A clean workaround to avoid overwriting existing CRM data when a contact resubmits a form — a lifesaver for marketing and sales alignment.
🧑🎓 Intern Application Workflow
Using Typeform + HubSpot, this flow qualifies candidates through a multi-step form, notifies internal teams, and delivers a personalized follow-up experience.
🤖 AI-Powered Sales Follow-Up
Built on HubSpot’s new OpenAI integration, this workflow drafts your buyer’s next steps automatically after a sales call. Less manual follow-up. More momentum.
📥 Customer-Friendly Data Import
A smarter way to empower internal teams to import data (without wrecking your CRM). Plus, it tracks speed and thoroughness — so nothing falls through the cracks.
🎉 Customer Anniversary Automation
Celebrate customer loyalty by triggering personalized anniversary messages at the 1-year, 3-year, or 5-year mark. It’s small, it’s simple, and it strengthens relationships.
Big Ideas + Real Conversations
What really set this HUG event apart? The collaboration.
Attendees didn’t just sit back — they openly shared challenges, swapped strategies, and inspired new ideas together.
Everyone in the room left with something they could try today. And honestly? This sparked a few new connections, too.
Whether someone was brand new to HubSpot or a seasoned admin, everyone walked away with actionable ideas and connections. There was a strong spirit of community and experimentation, with many attendees taking notes and snapping photos of slides to take back to their teams and HubSpot portals.

Up Next: Inbound Takeaways + Open Mic Sharing
We’re already looking ahead to our next San Diego HUG, where we’ll be sharing takeaways from INBOUND in San Francisco. But we’re not stopping at slides—we’re opening up the mic.
If you are attending INBOUND, we want you to share what inspires you from Inbound. And if you aren’t going? No worries — we’ll bring the highlights to you. Let’s keep that collaborative magic going.
📅 Stay tuned for confirmed dates in September and RSVP links — follow us on the SD HUG Community for updates.
Thank You
Thanks to all of the speakers, attendees, and the greater HubSpot community for joining us. You made this event what it was — smart, social, and full of substance. We’re already looking forward to the next one.
Until next time: keep automating, collaborating, and experimenting.
