In light of the current situation affecting businesses through Q1 and the foreseeable future, we thought it would be helpful to provide some recommendations on how best to adapt your marketing plans. With conferences canceled and ever-changing updates to how businesses are operating, our current situation will require companies to implement new strategies and marketing tactics going forward.
Below are a few recommendations from our digital marketing experts at VSSL regarding digital marketing at COVID-19:
Regarding COVID-19
If you haven’t already, we recommend sharing a note to your customers about how your company is managing current events. This can be in the form of a website homepage highlight, blog post or newsletter piece. We also recommend sharing at least one piece of content related to COVID-19 on your corporate social media feeds each week. We wouldn’t post more than twice a week, unless you have continued messages you’d like to communicate. As this is an evolving situation, a continuous, weekly update will show your audience you are engaged and prepared to handle the changing climate. Even if there are no specific business updates to provide, a simple message thanking doctors and healthcare workers is a great option.
In addition to sharing business updates, we recommend sharing content that discusses the current events and how it may affect your industry. This provides an opportunity to show thought leadership in the space and provide valuable information to your audience.
Digital Marketing and Thought Leadership
Now is a great time to focus on developing thought leadership. This can be in the form of a blog series, webinars and podcasts. At this time, recommend increasing production of any type of content that can be promoted and accessed digitally. Research shows that fresh online resources perform best. As more operations turn to the web, new repurposed or refreshed assets will help drive traffic to your website.
If an upcoming event you were planning to host has been canceled, we recommend taking your event online and setting up an email campaign to engage your target audiences. In the coming weeks, we highly recommend implementing new digital campaigns, or increasing the current efforts you have running. We anticipate traffic and impressions generated over the next few weeks to grow and now would be a great opportunity to increase your brand awareness.
